Listening for God

Elijah, Samuel, John the Baptist, Adam and Eve...

Ever just sit and listen for God?

The man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day.
- Genesis 3:8 (NIV)

I sat the other day in the back yard in the freshly fallen snow, listening. Listening to the sounds of the world still spinning around my ears. The snow reflected sounds that the ground normally absorbed and I could hear even the tinny chatter of a squirrel high in the trees above.

Today, this week I am in awe of how God speaks to us. Something different than any other "voice." But still a clear direction, clear mind, clear thought.

Oh to be like Samuel and be able to respond to the voice of God in child like faith. Oh to be like Peter and hear the voice of the Saviour calling out to you as your feet are wet in the crashing waves. Like Moses, listening to the voice of God being told exactly what to pound in the stone. To be like John, led through a preview of heaven, by the master tour guide...

Something to think about.
